Tally thought about the lesions in Shay's brain, the tiny cancers, or wound or whatever, that nshe didn't even know she had. they were in there somewhere changing her friends thoughtswarping her feelings and rerooting the roots of who she was.
Tally is feeling upset, angry, and despairing that she couldn't save Shay. She also knows that on the inside Shay is not Shay.
